Oilers’ Playoff Hopes Murdered By Kings, Vancouver And Calgary Still Battling For Best
If there is a silver-lining to the Edmonton Oilers failing to make the playoffs this season it has to be the emergence of the St. Louis Blues. So yeah, there’s no silver lining. It’s time for some changes in Edmonton, wholesale changes.
Sam Gagner redeemed his awful start to the season with a strong second half, and there’s hope for a few of the other kids in Edmonton. Gagner managed a nod as the second star in last night’s 2-1 loss to the L.A. Kings. Jonathan Quick made 38 saves to ultimately foil any playoff plans Craig MacTavish and crew had. Maybe Edmonton should look to Los Angeles for some help in goal for next season, they’re deep with prospects. Not that Dwayne Roloson’s late season run wasn’t impressive, it’s just that he’ll be 40-years old next season. Goodnight Champions City.
Battle of the Northwest’s Best
Roberto Luongo is THAT good. It took Luongo to stand on his head and spit nickels out, but his 46 saves last night moved his Canucks into a first-place tie with Calgary for tops in the Northwest Division. Vancouver hosts Los Angeles tonight and visits Colorado on Saturday for their last contest of the season, so they’ve got a decent chance at taking the Division. Calgary is looking at a home and home versus Edmonton this weekend, and you know the Oilers will look to play spoilers to their bitter rivals.

Burgundy: Never thought about it, but Emery could be a good fit in Edmonton. You’re bang-on with the Oilers paying too much for Pisani and company. It was tough situation though, I’ll give Lowe that. We all would have called for his head if he let those guys walk for nothing.
eyebleaf: Tough times for Champions City, we still got hope for the Blue Jays here in Toronto! Pennant!
