Morning Skate: Take Five, Maybe Murray Is The Problem, Lalime Sighting
Take a look at this post from TorontoSportsMedia.com, it warrants some interesting discussion on the Maple Leafs’ options heading towards the trade deadline. Take a closer look and you can see the drunken mess I made of the comment section last night. They ask: if you consider Grabovski and Schenn untouchable, who are 5 Leafs’ players you don’t want to see traded and why (five words or less)? Reading a post about the Toronto Maple Leafs that acknowledges their dim playoff chances is refreshing in itself.
Speaking of dim playoff chances, how about the situation in Ottawa? You know, I had a terrible boss once who either fired or played an instrumental role in the departure of several employees. After a while her boss started to notice this trend and we all got canned, my boss included. Bryan Murray is the man calling the shots in Ottawa, and his shots have been ricocheting of the ground and striking him in the chinny-chin-chin. At some point, Murray should be asking Eugene Melnyk: “Et tu, Brute?”.
It’s ironic that on a night when all the hockey talk is centered around Ottawa that the Buffalo Sabres throw former Sens’ scapegoat Patrick Lalime in goal. Lalime made only his tenth start of the season, he made 34 saves, but that wasn’t enough as the Anaheim Ducks came out on top 3-2.
On Tonight:
Take your pick between two great games: New Jersey hosting Washington, and Pittsburgh in Montreal to face the Canadiens.
