Wednesday Morning Skate: The Flamers and One Punch

Published by SL under Morning Skate Edit This

Rewind to November 13, when the San Jose Sharks bag-beat the Calgary Flames 6-1.  Call it judgment day, the Flamers have gone 15-4-3 since then and spanked the Sharks 5-2 last night.  Daymond Langkow scored twice to lift his season total to 14, and Todd Bertuzzi managed an assist while his beard grew a 1/4″.

Evgeni Nabokov was pulled for the first time this season after allowing Calgary’s fourth goal early in the second period.   The win keeps the Flames atop the Northwest division and improves their record at home to 14-4-3.

Ex-Leaf Notes:

Bryan McCabe beat his former team, logged 23:50 minutes of ice-time and added a helper as well.  Andrew Raycroft made 22 saves to improve his record to 7-1-0, his SV% is still a shitty .894 though.

Bizarre:

Jarkko Ruutu took a bite out of Andrew Peters’ hand, scroll down the article for more on this.

Middleweights:

I have no idea why the fuck Ruslan Fedotenko is fighting in the first place.  Colby Armstrong must have wanted to show his best friend Sidney Crosby how it’s done.  Make sure your volume is on for this one, the announcer actually says, “How about this?  Colby is a pretty good fighter”.
