Lecavalier Used to be Tough

It was a longer wait than expected for Vinny Lecavalier to drop the mitts for the first time this season. Lecavalier once went toe-toe with Jarome Iginla in the Stanley Cup Final, and among those that follow the punchier side of hockey, Prince Vince is considered to be a more than adequate thrower of fists.
For a guy who was once called “the Michael Jordan of hockey”, Lecavalier has a fairly sexy career fight card. He had even once fought giant Zdeno Chara when he was a member of the Ottawa Senators, in the playoffs.
I was hoping that new head coach Rick Tocchet would provide the spark Lecavalier needed to bring his play and toughness up to the standard that he has set both in the NHL and in his international experience as well.
Expectations had crumbled away midway through Lecavalier’s tilt with Jochen Hecht (all 3 career fights of him) on Saturday night. Vinny takes a hell of shot in the beak and just manages to pull out a draw.
Disappointing indeed.
